Blog no. 14: Web 2.0 Bridges Gaps

In our class debate a couple of weeks ago, it was argued that Web 2.0 can make people too dependent on it . Another was that the fundamental purpose of learning will be no more because people will no longer pay attention in class. Also, someone said that people, especially teenagers will be more liberated and may lose the values they ought to have. These all do have pooint, but we have to see that the debate wasn't about Web 2.0 being a substitite to blackboard education, but solely on the advantages and disadvantages of this web development. Personally, I am not at all against Web 2.0. It is undoubtful that this web development consisting of web-based communities makes things easier for us. Through this, we achieve a more constant and faster mode of communication, which is especially helpful to those who need to keep in touch with distant friends and family. We can find all sorts of information through countless search engines. Of course, it can always be argued that Web 2.0 can bring about some bad things, however, it is all up to its users. If we properly use , rather than abuse advances in technology such as this, then they will do a lot of good for us. Only then can we appreciate them and see the great advantages of web development such as Web 2.0.
